You can run multiple profiles of Firefox or Thunderbird at the same time. You will first need to create a new profiles with firefox -profilemanager, then start an instance with:

Firefox: firefox -P 'ProfileName' -no-remote

Thunderbird: thunderbird -P 'ProfileName' -no-remote
